CP Foods creates Asia's first carbon-neutral cage-free egg | WATTPoultry.com

Somkid Wannalukkhee, head of CP Foods’ egg sector, said that to achieve carbon-neutral status, the company had been working on various projects, such as:

 The eggs are certified through the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO) and the Carbon Footprint Reduction Label (CFR), also known as the Global Warming Reduction Label.

According to CP Foods, its eggs with the certification show a 30% greenhouse gas emission reduction below the industry average for similar eggs.

CP Foods hopes to achieve 40% of its total revenue through its low-carbon offerings by 2030. In the future, the company said it hopes to develop a cage-free layer facility that operates using 100% renewable energy.

In March 2023, CP Foods announced it had become the first Thai company to export frozen pasteurized liquid whole eggs to Japan and held a launch ceremony for the first shipment from its Ban Na processing plant.

Concerning the achievement, Wanthanee Chamnarnshettakarn, CP Foods Head of Egg Processing, said, “The first shipment was approved due to CP Foods' high-tech production that complies with international standards.”
